Winters Leftovers

It was near 70 here yesterday and today the same or warmer. I took a couple of pictures of our backyard to show you the leftovers of Winters mess. Dont you just wonder how it gets this way? Each Fall Baldyman and I clean up our yard really good. We rake, put everything away--and yet after all the snow melts...this is how it looks.
This is where the feeders are for the birds. Its really bad. All we have to do though is rake all this leftover seed into the little gulley and its pretty cleaned up. Its just amazing how awful this looks though. Here in Wisconsin, we most likely will still have snow and freezing temps. We have about another month or so of weather that will fight to let the warm air in. Still, I've already gotten outside and started raking up all the debris from the cold weather. How about all of your yards, do they get this bad?

We only have red clay that is as hard as a brick when it is dry and mud so sticky you can't even scrape it off when it is wet. We have small areas of grass and lots of pasture area. I spent all day Sunday just cleaning and re-arranging the deck!

I know how true this is. We clean up in the fall and then leaves blow in over the winter and I noticed that all kinds of things have caught on the fence in the back yard. It is still cold here so no yard work. I feel bad for the little spring bulbs that are in flower beds needing a good clean up. But I hear next week will be better...yea!

Happy St. Patricks Day Dawn! As for my yard, right now it is flooded from all of the rain these last 5 days! But once it dries up, I know it will be green again...
Don't fret Spring will be here very soon.

Hi Dawn! My husband is from Racine and he tells me of the hard work he used to do during winter too - it may look bad now, but you guys have awesome seasons in Wisconsin unlike us here in California - same weather all the time.....

Hi Dawn:
Our yard is so ugly right now too. The patio has leaves everywhere and the yard is all brown. I went into town yesterday and there is still big snow patches all around. But it is warming up a little, so that's a good sign.
Happy St.Patricks day to you

We have had wind all winter and there are always sticks and small branches all over. I try to make it into a game for the kids to pick it up. They never really fall for it. The other day we had the wagon full and when I wasn't looking the little ones dumped it out. (o: It is sooo DRY here. We are all hoping for a bid dump of snow or maybe even rain.

I have a million empty sunflower seed shells from the bird laying all around. I am going to buy some mulch and just toss it on top to cover it up!

you know...it is supposed to be "sleeping" !!!! lol
I have huge ugly messes each spring too. I have to say I don't look forward to the dog poop that is magically appearing daily when the sun melts the snow! ick

I love linens too, especially lace! And it seems we have something else in common...I live by the sea as well, except in Newfoundland, Canada!

Hi Dawnie!
Thank you for stopping by and following my blog!

My yard is always so sad looking in the winter. Once spring comes, it comes to life and by may its so lush and green. We have a lot of trees so leaf clean-up is the majority of our work. It doesn't end in the fall.

Right now this is our pretty time of the year....but come check back in August after 120 degree heat has KILLED EVERYTHING!!!! The spring down here in the valley of the sun is the prettiest time of the year for sure...but our summers SUCK! We only have two seasons...hot and hotter!!!!
